Zombicide Green Horde Tips
Zombicide Green Horde is a great co-op fantasy dungeon crawler game. It was made by CMON and came out a while back. Here are a list of tips to consider when you play your game.
Keeping these tips in mind can help with your game! Have fun playing and happy dungeon crawling!
- Use your sound tokens. It is tempting to just use your largest group of survivors to figure out which direction the zeds are headed during their activation, but someone with a loud magic skill could potentially generate 4 noise (if they have their extra action) or more! You might have 2 survivors on one square and 4 on another, but if your group of 2 made a lot of noise, the zeds will be moving towards them instead! This can really turn the tables sometimes.
- Understand your skills. As you move up in level you will gain more skills. These will usually just say things like "iron rain" or "shove", but do not expand on what those skills actually do. You can find breakdowns of all of these in the back of your rulebook. Knowing what your characters are capable of can certainly improve your planning as well as streamline the flow of the game.
- Do not rush to gain levels. It may be tempting to get that amazing orange level skill that your character has, but DO NOT be a glory hog and try to hit orange as quickly as possible. If you hit orange level but most of the rest of your team is still in blue, you can create a terrible situation for your team to face. Try to spread the experience around and keep everyone close together in color level. A balanced team such as this will have a much easier time dealing with higher level spawns.
- Search. Take some time to search rooms. You need to get better equipment so you can handle what the game is going to throw at you. An under-equipped party can meet a quick demise, even if they are in yellow or orange level. Do keep in mind that when you search, you also get to equip and reorganize your inventory for free.
- Use that trebuchet. If there is a necromancer on the board, the trebuchet can really help deal with it much more efficiently than making a mad dash across the board to catch him! Also, do not be afraid to fire the 3 damage shot. Yes, you only get one die, but you hit on a 4+, or a 3+ if someone has line of sight to the enemy. You will really only use this for abomination/special monsters. The grapeshot is super effective at dealing with fatty bursters.
- Make sure you fully understand the scenario objectives. When I was first learning this game I made a lot of mistakes and thought I had beaten a scenario (quest 0) and then during cleanup, I realized I did not destroy the red spawn so I could not have completed it.
- Know the difference between +1 die and +1 to die roll. Something like +1 die ranged attack means if the weapon you are holding says you can use 1 die to attack, this skill gives you 2 dice! If the skill says +1 to die roll ranged means that if you have a weapon that hits on a 4+, that weapon now hits on a 3+!
- There is a skill that can add to your damage! Meaning if you are holding a weapon that does 2 damage and get the skill +1 damage ranged, that means your weapon does 3 damage! You can kill abominations with a weapon now! FEEL THE POWER!
- Know how water works and how to use it to your advantage. Zombies are unhindered when moving through water, but they cannot climb ledges! They have to take the long way! You can even use shove to shove a whole tile of zeds off a ledge and into the water! Now they have to go all the way around to get back to you! Do remember though that to move into water from land, it takes a survivor only one movement point, but moving from water to water is 2 actions per movement, same goes for water to land, 2 actions.
- Trading. Trading takes 1 action to initiate, but both players get to equip and reorganize during this trade action.
- Reequip. If you have a ranged weapon that is 1-3 range and find yourself in a situation where you need a range 0 weapon, you must spend an action to reequip.
Keeping these tips in mind can help with your game! Have fun playing and happy dungeon crawling!
